Like this week’s story from Rwanda, our script of the week focuses on the power of the sun.

The potential of solar energy in Tanzania – like many other African countries – is tremendous. But the initial cost of purchasing a solar panel seems too high for most people. As a result, rural areas in Tanzania cannot take advantage of the energy available from the sun.

SolarAid is a UK-based organization that is developing solar power with a view to bringing affordable light to homes and schools in rural Tanzania.
