On February 13, 2015, join us to celebrate the role radio plays in the lives of farm broadcasters, farmers and their communities!

February 13 is World Radio Day. This special day raises awareness of the importance of radio, celebrates the fact that radio provides listeners with information they need, and strengthens networking among broadcasters.

As rural radio broadcasters, you know that radio is one of the most effective tools for rural communication because it gives farmers a voice and enhances their livelihoods, regardless of their level of education or literacy.

Farm Radio International is collecting stories from farm broadcasters and farmers on how radio affects their lives. We will showcase these stories to the world on World Radio Day.

We need your help. We are asking you to:

1- Submit stories from broadcasters and farmers whose lives have been affected by radio by emailing us a short written text, photo and/or audio file to barza.fm@farmradio.org by February 3, 2015. Some of the best stories will be published on Barza Wire. (See an example of a farmer story that combines photo, audio and text at: http://barza.fm/when-radio-proves-more-powerful-than-money-farmer-masiye-mwales-story/)

2- On World Radio Day, help us spread the broadcaster and farmer stories published on Barza Wire by sharing the links via Facebook and Twitter with the hashtags #Iloveradio and #BarzaWire.

Please share this call for stories with your friends and colleagues!
