WHO video series: COVID-19 vaccines, fertility, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and menstruation

The World Health Organization (WHO) has created a series of informational video and audio clips about COVID-19. The series is called “Science in 5” and it features global health experts who address important issues about the pandemic.

In this episode, Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, WHO’s chief scientist, answers the following questions:

  • Should women who are breastfeeding their babies get vaccinated?
  • Should women who are pregnant or are planning to get pregnant get vaccinated?
  • What about women who are menstruating, can they get vaccinated?
  • Can vaccines cause infertility?
