REDD stands for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation. It is a mechanism which aims to slow climate change by paying developing countries to stop cutting down their forests. REDD+ goes a step further and includes conserving and sustainably managing forests, forest restoration and reforestation. Both are hotly debated and can be complicated to report on. This media pack explains the debates around REDD and REDD+, gives clear definitions of key terms and suggests some questions to ask when covering this topic.

The media pack is available in English, French, Spanish and Bahasa Indonesia. Download a pdf here: http://earthjournalism.net/resources/reporting-redd-journalists-guide-role-forests-combating-global-climate-change
