The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations published a report in 2011 called Bees and their roles in forest livelihoods. Chapter 15 of this resource discusses the constraints beekeepers face in developing countries. The constraints mentioned in the report include:

● Biological constraints

● Bacterial diseases

● Pests of bees and bee nests

● Technical constraints

● Trade constraints

● Institutional constraints

The report discusses the causes and symptoms of viral and bacterial diseases of honeybees. It also provides information on disease interventions and possible cures.
