Journalists from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and Mauritania are invited to apply for a prize that promotes investigation and research of political, economic, social, and cultural issues. The Norbert Zongo Journalism of Investigation Prize accepts submissions in three categories: radio, newspapers, and television.
Applicants must be employed by a news agency or collaborate with news agencies in West Africa. Works must have been broadcast or published between May 3, 2008, and May 3, 2009. Entries will be judged on: professionalism, research strategies, evidence of encountered difficulties, relevance and originality of subject, interest of topic, and editorial style. The winner in each category will receive a diploma, a trophy, and 1,000,000 CFA (approximately 2,100 American dollars or 1,500 Euros).
