SEJ Awards for Reporting on the Environment

The Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ) is now accepting applications for the 2022 SEJ Awards for Reporting on the Environment. These awards recognize outstanding journalism on environmental subjects.

All journalism on environmental subjects that is published or broadcast in a media outlet available to the public is eligible for the contest. The journalism must have been released between February 1, 2021, and January 31, 2022. Journalists must also submit a cover letter along with their application.

There are ten application categories, including:

  • Investigative—large and small categories
  • Beat reporting—large and small categories
  • Feature—large and small categories
  • Explanatory reporting—large and small categories
  • Student reporting category
  • Book category

International journalists are encouraged to apply, but non-English entries must include a complete English translation. 

The entry fee is US$45 for SEJ members, $110 for non-SEJ members, and US$10 for journalists residing in low-to-middle-income countries.
