The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is inviting independent media organizations and civic groups or associations to submit proposals for projects that advance the goals of democracy or strengthen democratic institutions.

Grants will vary depending on the size and scope of each project. The average grant will be $50,000 US for projects lasting an average of 12 months.

Projects proposed for the grant should promote and defend human rights and the rule of law, support freedom of information and independent media, and promote accountability and transparency.

Proposals must include a cover sheet with basic organizational information, a project narrative and budget, and documents that confirm the legal status of applicant organizations.

Applications can be submitted in English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Arabic, and Persian.

The deadline to apply is September 14, 2020.
