The growing use of technology has led to more information being available online. It has also led to more fake news and misinformation.

To help journalists tell real from fake, is offering a free online course on the basics of verification.

Verification, like fact-checking, is the process of checking that information is real. When information is in the form of pictures or videos, the process can be more difficult.

This self-guided course aims to teach journalists the process of verification, including best practices and real-world examples. It also addresses the key techniques of verification, with a special emphasis on information in times of crises.

The course is 1 hour and 47 minutes in length, and is available in English only.
