Applications now available for the Southern African Development community media awards

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is now inviting journalists in SADC member states to apply for the 2022 SADC Media Awards. The awards recognize excellence in journalism and encourage media practitioners in member states to cover issues pertaining to the region.

Journalists from SADC member states are eligible. SADC member states are: Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Comoros, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

The categories for the competition are print, radio, television, and photo. Applications will be accepted in English, Portuguese, French, or any national language of the SADC member states.

All official materials for the competition (including the media release, rules of the competition, and entry forms) are available in English, French, and Portuguese.

Each category winner will be awarded $2,500 USD. Runners-up in each category will receive $1,000 USD.
