Giving farmers a voice: Kpira Boyohewa’s mission to inform and empower rural Togo

Kpira Boyohewa is the head of the Agricultural Magazine section at Radio Lomé in Togo, a role she has held for several years. Her journey into radio broadcasting began in her childhood in Agbassa, where she developed a deep passion for agriculture while working alongside her family on their farm. After earning a Master’s degree in Journalism and Digital Technology from ISICA at the University of Lomé, she passed the public service exam in 2016 and became a journalist, specializing in agricultural programming.

With over 17 years of experience in the field, Mrs. Boyohewa has dedicated her career to supporting smallholder farmers in Togo. Her commitment to providing vital agricultural information is evident in her work as the producer of the station’s flagship program, Magazine Agricole (Agri-Magazine), which includes practical advice on crop cultivation, the use of organic fertilizers, and sustainable farming practices.

Mrs. Boyohewa’s strength lies in her extensive network of agricultural experts and her firsthand experience gained through various agricultural projects across Togo. She actively engages with her audience by incorporating their concerns into her programming. Listeners particularly appreciate the timely advice she provides, especially regarding planting schedules and the use of natural composting methods to support local farming practices.
