The African Story Challenge is a new $1 million program and competition to encourage innovative, multi-media storytelling. The two-year, pan-African project will challenge the media to expand coverage of fundamental issues that matter to Africans. The goal is to contribute to the building of a strong media sector which can deliver content that matters to the African public.
The competition has five themes, including “Agriculture and food security.”
The competition is targeted at African journalists from around the continent. Entries will be accepted in English, French, Arabic and Portuguese. All participants, including freelance journalists, must ensure they have at least one confirmed outlet (TV, radio, print or online) for their finished work.
The competition is open to all African journalists aged 18 and above, whether based in or outside of the continent.
