AfricaCheck has extended the deadline for print, broadcast, and online journalists based in Africa to apply for the 2020 African Fact-Checking Awards.
To apply, journalists must submit original pieces of fact-checking journalism published or broadcast by a news outlet based in Africa between August 1, 2019 and August 22, 2020.
The award is available in two categories: fact-check of the year by a working journalist and fact-check of the year by a student. The award honours journalism that exposes misleading claims made by public figures or institutions.
Cash prizes between $1,000 and $3,000 US will be awarded to the winner and runner-up in each category.
Applications and entries can be made in English and French. The new deadline to apply is August 22, 2020.
