The Norbert Zongo Prize is an award for excellence in investigative journalism, established by the Norbert Zongo National Press Centre (CPN-NZ) in memory of the journalist and editor of The Independent, a weekly newspaper in Burkina Faso. Mr. Zongo was murdered on December 13, 1998.
Established in 2011, the competition is open to all professional journalists regularly employed by or freelancing for African media.
The award promotes investigative journalism, research, and investigation into political, economic, social and cultural life.
Entries must have been published or broadcast between May 3, 2011 and May 3, 2013.
There are three categories: newspaper, radio and television.
Only works in French or English will be accepted. Articles and broadcasts originally in other languages must be accompanied by translations into French or English.
The deadline for receipt of applications is November 15, 2013.
