Emergency support available for journalists and media organizations facing threats

    Journalists around the world are facing increasing levels of repression, violence, intimidation, and legal harassment. When media professionals are attacked or silenced, communities lose access to independent and reliable information.

    To support journalists and media outlets in distress, Free Press Unlimited offers emergency assistance through its Reporters Respond fund.

    Reporters Respond provides direct support to journalists and media organizations worldwide who are facing threats because of their work. Assistance may include:

    • Medical support
    • Psycho-social support
    • Family support
    • Temporary relocation
    • Legal assistance
    • Safety advice
    • Digital security training

    The fund supports individual journalists as well as media organizations, including radio stations, that are experiencing online harassment, intimidation, legal proceedings, or violence linked to their reporting. It also supports preventive initiatives, such as digital security training.
