Farm Radio is pleased to present its latest Resource Pack, featuring scripts and Broadcaster how-to guides on a range of topics for farm broadcasters in Africa.

Item #1 is a five-episode drama from Tanzania on gender equity issues in growing common beans. The drama features a group of women who belong to a village savings group and all grow common beans. They face many difficulties, but they persevere and ultimately succeed. The drama unfolds against a backdrop of conflicts, including domestic abuse in one family, and the underhanded efforts of one man to both manipulate women and profit from criminal activities.

Two items in Pack 108 deal with conservation agriculture, and both are also set in Tanzania. One looks at how farmers are meeting the challenge of scaling-up conservation agriculture to larger pieces of land, and the other focuses on the types of equipment and labour arrangements used by women farmers who practice conservation agriculture.

Item #4 is an updated FRI script on the many benefits of intercropping, and item #5 highlights how Ethiopian farmers are meeting the challenges of growing sorghum.

Resource Pack 108 also includes three scripts that feature farmers’ own solutions, knowledge, and innovations. Item #6 is a drama that highlights the nutritional, health, and livelihood benefits of growing traditional and often neglected plants. Item #7 shows how farmers in Malawi are addressing their disease, livestock health, and pest problems (including Fall armyworm) with no-cost plant-based pesticides. And Item #8 shows how Ethiopian farmers are working with a national NGO to bring back—and benefit from—disappearing traditional crop varieties.

Pack 108 concludes with five new Broadcaster how-to guides. Here are the titles:
• How to generate revenue to support your regular farmer program
• How to effectively use wild sound in your radio program
• Saving, organizing, and archiving audio files
• How to create effective programs about markets and marketing
• Audio editing
