This week’s news story from Uganda illustrates many useful aspects of composting – it can help farmers boost their income, and, by putting garbage to good use, it can even help clean up a neighbourhood. The news story introduces us to Damaris Namusoke, a Ugandan woman who earns money by selling compost, as well as by selling vegetables that she grows with compost. In this week’s featured script you’ll meet another fan of compost – a fictional character called Dr. Compost. Dr. Compost describes, in detail, the process of making compost to be used as fertilizer from materials found on a farm.
