Appropriate farming tools for African women farmers

African women play a major role in agricultural production. Having secure access to land is vital for them and their children. The story from Tanzania this week is one example of how women have worked together to gain access to land. Women can achieve further benefits if they use appropriate tools.  In many regions, women are prevented from using oxen or improved tools by community attitudes or beliefs. Yet if women use tools which are appropriate for their needs, or work with local blacksmiths to develop such tools, productivity could increase. This script explores how one woman farmer started using oxen and increased her yields.
