This booklet from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations explores the linkages between conflict and food security.
Conflict is the largest cause of food insecurity and malnutrition in the world today. Conflict damages agriculture, disrupts food production and food systems, and results in increased theft of crops and livestock and the loss of assets and incomes. The proportion of undernourished people living in countries in conflict and protracted crisis is almost three times higher than in other developing countries.
