    L’Organisation Internationale de La Francophonie and Reporters without Borders have published ahandbook that aims to help journalists understand their responsibilities during elections and cover them successfully.

    While elections should be an expression and a strengthening of the democratic process, sometimesthey can pose a threat to peace and security. As a journalist, it’s important to know your duties andobligations during elections. It is also useful to know what to do when you encounter obstacles toinforming the public about relevant election issues.

    This manual is designed to help journalists adhere to appropriate professional and ethical values inorder to provide fair and balanced information about candidates, their programs and the electoralprocess.
