Online course: Infographics and Data Visualization

The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas is running a third “Massive Open Online Course” (or MOOC), called “Introduction to Infographics and Data Visualization.”

Offered in English, the free, four-week course will begin on October 6 and conclude on November 2, 2013. It is available to anyone in the world with an internet connection.

The course will focus on working with graphics to communicate and analyze data. Previous experience in information graphics and data visualization is not required to take the course. Participants will learn the skills to start producing their own infographics. They should expect to spend 4-6 hours per week on the course.

Although the course was initially conceived with journalists and designers in mind, the Knight Center says that others are welcome, and could benefit from the practical skills taught in the course.

Although the course is free, participants who wish to receive a certificate must go online to pay a $30 US administrative fee via credit card.
