Health resources

When there is a disease outbreak, people need information on how to protect their health—and that of their loved ones. The World Health Organization’s Risk Communication and Community Engagement team recently shared several resources on cholera, mpox, and COVID-19, which may be affecting your community.

The two public health documents on monkey pox provide practical advice to help reduce the risk of mpox transmission in a range of settings. They can be used as a basis for formal and informal community conversations, information sessions, or producing information for your communities on how to protect themselves and others.

All of these resources can be used to develop radio spots or answer listeners’ questions about these topics—or to prepare for an interview with a health expert.

WHO also offers an online course called “SocialNet: Empowering communities before, during and after an infectious disease outbreak.” Register here: https://openwho.org/courses/empowering-communities [7]
