The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) has identified emerging data about the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on women and girls. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there has been an increasing number and an intensification of violence against women and girls in domestic life.

November 25 is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls, an occasion designed to spread awareness about violence against women. Being in the middle of the pandemic has exacerbated the issue in households across the globe, which is why UN Women is sharing resources and information about domestic violence.
