Community radio in Cote d’Ivoire

After the 2010-2011 post-election crisis in Côte d’Ivoire, the country is focusing on reconciliation. Many state radio channels took one side or another during the conflict, reinforcing differences instead of building trust and understanding.

Yet many community radio stations remained impartial and neutral. At a time when reconciliation and social cohesion is a priority for Côte d’Ivoire, the country’s many community radio stations have adapted their programming to these themes, producing shows about issues such as human rights, tolerance, peaceful coexistence and forgiveness.
