To mark International Biodiversity Day, Inter Press Service and partners have produced a guidebook for reporting on biodiversity issues, entitled “Putting life on the front page.”
The 30-page document provides journalists with the tools to understand biodiversity, report on it clearly, and make the most of biodiversity issues and events.
The guide includes a comprehensive list of definitions, and examples of the linkages between biodiversity and other topics. It includes ideas for biodiversity stories and recommendations on how to pitch them to editors and present them to readers. Finally, it outlines key reporting and journalism principles.
The document includes a calendar of key biodiversity events for the coming year, and a list of international conventions, treaties and agreements linked to biodiversity.
The guide is available in English and Spanish. It can be downloaded here: http://www.ips.org/institutional/putting-life-on-the-front-page-ips-launches-biodiversity-reporting-guidelines/ .
Please let us know if you produced a program or highlighted an activity as part of International Day for Biological Diversity or the International Year of Biodiversity: email@example.com . We’d be delighted to mention your work in upcoming issues of Farm Radio Weekly.
