Workshop on reporting women’s issues

The Thomson Reuters Foundation is offering a six-day intensive course designed to help journalists fine-tune their skills and enhance their coverage of women’s issues, opinions, and empowerment. The Foundation describes the course as a lively and practical workshop where participants will attend four days of classes and then have two days at the News Xchange conference (http://www.newsxchange.org/ [1]).

Themes covered by the workshop will include: a critical assessment of women’s rights coverage in the global media; choosing the best angle for your story; presentation skills and writing for greater impact; bringing narrative quality to the news organization (storytelling); ethics and fact-checking; conveying local (or national) stories for a global audience; safety for female journalists; and what female perspectives can bring to media coverage of any event or situation.

The workshop will take place in Barcelona, Spain, from November 11-16, 2012. The application deadline is September 30. For more details and application requirements, click here [2]. (en anglais seulement)
