The Digital for Development (D4D) Hub is hosting the first African D4D journalist competition

To enter, journalists who are citizens of an African Union state must submit an in-depth article or reportage of any format (videos, podcasts, blogs, electronic news) on one of the following topics:

  • Connectivity
  • Digital skills
  • Digital entrepreneurship
  • e-Governance 
  • e-Commerce
  • Digital financial services
  • Cybersecurity
  • Privacy and data protection

The submission must be published in an online media outlet and should be less than a year old (published after January 14, 2021). 

The winner will be invited to join the AU-EU D4D Hub delegation that will travel to Estonia to attend the annual e-governance conference on May 10-12, 2022. Travel, accommodation, and meal costs for the selected journalist will be paid for by the competition. Participants must meet local vaccine requirements and have a passport that is valid until December 2022.

Entries can be submitted in English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, or Arabic. 

The deadline to apply is February 28, 2022.
