Reporting grants to cover peace efforts in conflict zones

Journalists can obtain grants of up to US$20,000 to cover peace and reconciliation efforts in conflict areas.

The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting is funding the project in partnership with an initiative called War Stories, Peace Stories.

Three submissions will be selected. The winners will present their pitches to a panel of judges at the War Stories, Peace Stories Symposium on April 11, 2018, in New York City, USA. One of the journalists will be selected for an additional $5,000 award.

Organizers hope the competition will encourage journalists to cover stories that focus on peacebuilding, non-violent resistance, reconciliation, and community efforts to prevent violence in areas of international conflict or extremism.

Journalists from any country, working in any medium, are eligible to apply. Projects may include print, photography, audio, video, or a combination of media. Applications must be submitted in English. Pitches must include a plan for publication or broadcast in US or European news media.

The deadline to apply is March 1, 2018.
