The FOTEA Foundation is inviting photographers in Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda to apply for the East African Photography Award for documentary photography and storytelling.

To apply, photographers must submit multi-image stories that focus on people and cultures from the perspective of East African citizens. Each photographer can make up to two story submissions and must use only their own photographs. For each submission, a minimum of ten and a maximum of 20 photographs should be submitted.

Each photograph submitted must include a brief caption (50 words maximum) describing the image, including when and where the photograph was first published.

Submissions will be judged based on individual images as well as overall story quality and relevance. The top three submissions will be awarded prizes, including a Canon camera and lens.

The deadline to apply is August 1, 2020.
