The Challenges of Women in Africa reporting contest offers journalists the opportunity to visit top U.S. newsrooms. The study tour—organized by ImpactAFRICA—recognizes excellent journalism projects that address gender equality and the challenges women face accessing health care and services.

ImpactAFRICA is an initiative from two organizations: the International Center for Journalists and Code for Africa. Journalists from Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zambia are invited to apply.

Winners will be chosen in three categories: best community impact; best audience engagement; and best use of data.

Stories should have been published, broadcast, or produced between Nov. 15, 2016 and March 15, 2017. Judges are looking for stories that show solutions, and submissions that highlight reporting that had a positive impact on policies or services.

The deadline to apply is March 15.
