Opportunities from the Media Foundation for West Africa

The Media Foundation for West Africa recently announced a third phase of funding for journalists in Ghana, Senegal, and Burkina Faso. The funds will support journalists who report on corruption, transparency, accountability, and service delivery in these West African countries.

Applicants must be working with a recognized media outlet in Ghana, Senegal, or Burkina Faso. The online application form requires a story idea, methodology for reporting on the story, and an estimated budget. Journalists can receive funding of up to $1,000 US.

The deadline to apply is June 30.

The Media Foundation for West Africa is hosting their annual West Africa Media Excellence Conference and Awards October 18 and 19 in Accra, Ghana. The theme is Social Media, Fake news, and Elections in Africa.

The organization is inviting journalists to apply for several awards in the following categories. Finalists will be invited to the West Africa Media Excellence Conference.
