The Nieman Foundation selects up to 12 international journalists for fellowships each year. International candidates selected as fellows work with Nieman staff to find financial support from sources outside the Foundation — obtaining funding is not a pre-requisite for being awarded a fellowship.

Proficiency in English is necessary to benefit fully from the Nieman experience as all seminars and classes are in English.

For more information about international fellowships, go to

    http://www.nieman.harvard.edu/NiemanFoundation/NiemanFellowships/TypesOfFellowships/InternationalFellowships.aspx or send an e-mail to nieman_applications@harvard.edu.

Please note that the Nieman Society of Southern Africa also sponsors an annual fellowship for a South African journalist, and that there is a separate application process for South Africans who are interested in this fellowship.

The application deadline for non-US citizens is December 1, 2012.
