Print, broadcast, and online journalists can apply for fellowships to participate in a conference on rural poverty and agricultural development hosted by the Thomson Reuters Foundation, with funding from the United Nation’s International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The conference will be held in Rome, Italy from November 2 to 4, 2016.

Journalists will have access to high-profile delegates and leading experts on rural communities, including IFAD and UN technical experts, as well as small-scale farmers.

Applicants must be working as journalists or regular contributors to print, broadcast, or online media organizations. They must have at least two years of experience and a good level of spoken and written English. Candidates should submit evidence of their professional interest in rural peoples’ issues and development. After the workshop, selected journalists are expected to pursue stories on rural development issues in their home countries.
