John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship

The John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship provides journalists with the opportunity to study and work together at Stanford University, in the United States. Journalists from around the world are selected for this 10-month experience, which begins in September 2017.

Fellows receive a stipend of $75,000 US. The cost of tuition and health care at Stanford University is also covered.

Ideal candidates will have at least five years of experience. Candidates should choose a question to pursue during their fellowship. Topic areas include:

  • data journalism, information visualization, and artificial intelligence;
  • emerging technologies;
  • audience engagement;
  • free speech and democracy; and
  • new business models.

The deadline to apply is Dec. 1.
