John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship

This fellowship program is offered by the John S. and James Knight Foundation in partnership with Stanford University. It brings together 20 fellows from around the world, with the goal of engaging fellows in tackling grand challenges facing journalism.

From September to June, fellows will embark on collaborative and individual projects, participate in special workshops, and explore the resources and facilities of the Stanford University campus.

Applicants are required to have at least five years of work experience in addition to working in a newsroom or being a freelance journalist, being a journalism entrepreneur, or being a business executive for a news organization.

Applicants should propose a project that addresses one of the following key challenges facing journalism:

    • Challenging misinformation and disinformation
    • Holding the powerful accountable
    • Eradicating news deserts and strengthening local news
    • Fighting bias, intolerance, and injustice

Fellows will receive a stipend.

The deadline to apply is Dec. 4.
