The International Women’s Media Fund is offering two reporting fellowships for female journalists. Both will take place November 1-17, 2018, with one group travelling to the Central African Republic and the other group travelling to Kigali, Rwanda, and Goma, the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Reporting fellows will begin their trip in Nairobi, Kenya, where they will receive training on hostile environments and first aid.

Fellows will have the opportunity to network with other journalists, report collaboratively with peers, and gain access to a variety of sources and sites for their reporting.

Women with three or more years of professional experience in news media are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be able to communicate in English and show proof of interest from an editor who will publish their work. Preference will be given to journalists who have reported from Africa’s Great Lakes region. Applicants are also encouraged to apply in pairs. Those applying in pairs must meet the eligibility criteria and submit a joint application.

The deadline to apply is Aug. 21.
