The Journalism and Media Lab is inviting journalists to submit proposals for in-depth reporting on journalism and media innovations and innovators in Africa.

To apply, journalists must submit a CV which includes a list of their previous reporting experience, a brief proposal for an article or articles to be written using the grant, and a proposed deadline.

Grants of up to 20,000 ZAR ($1,168 US) are available to help cover reporting costs. Due to challenges associated with COVID-19, journalists are encouraged to plan to work remotely.

Suggested areas of focus include case studies of real-world examples that inspired innovations or innovators in journalism and media in Africa, profiles of innovators in journalism and media in Africa, and research on media sustainability, business models, metrics, or analytics.

Submissions can be made in English. Applications will be received on a continuous basis.
