InfoNile is offering support to journalists covering the dual dangers of the COVID-19 pandemic and the water crisis in the Nile basin.

Teams of two journalists are invited to submit proposals for in-depth stories on this topic with a maximum budget of $500 US. Teams must include one representative of a national newspaper or one TV journalist, and one local radio journalist.

To apply, teams must submit a one-page story proposal, a budget of no more than $500 US, an up-to-date CV for each journalist, two samples of published or broadcast work per journalist, and a letter of support from the media channels who will publish, telecast, or broadcast the stories.

Teams must work in one of the following countries in the Nile basin: Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi, South Sudan, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Egypt.

Chosen teams will be expected to write two in-depth stories focusing on the same topic: one for TV or newspaper and one for radio in a local language. Stories can be written in any language but must also be translated into English.

Applications in English will be accepted on a continuous basis until July 2020.
