The International Women’s Media Foundation is offering grants to female journalists for reporting projects or professional development opportunities. The funding is intended to support female journalists’ work and improve coverage of underreported yet globally important stories.
To be eligible, applicants must be female journalists with three or more years of experience. Teams of journalists are eligible to apply if at least half of the team members are women.
As part of their application, journalists must submit:
- their contact information and resume
- a brief description of the project or opportunity for which funding will be used
- a list of team members, if applicable
- a description of the purpose of the proposal or the problem it is meant to address
- the contact information of two professional references
All applications must be in English.
Grant size will vary by the proposals received. However, successful applicants will receive an average of $10,000 to cover a reporting project or for a professional development opportunity with a timeline of one year.
For the next eight years, applications will be received on a continuous basis and approximately 23 grants given each year.
