Global health reporting contest

The International Center for Journalists is offering the Johnson & Johnson Global Health Reporting Contest to recognize the best media coverage of maternal and child health, as well as other health issues, from Brazil, China, India, Russia, and sub-Saharan Africa. A winner from each region will be selected. Winners will receive a cash prize and 12-day study tour of the United States.

Entries must have been published or aired between February 1 and July 31, 2017. They can include feature articles, investigative or explanatory reporting, documentaries, or discussion programs.

Possible topics of coverage include (but are not limited to):

  • – reducing maternal, infant, and child mortality
  • – reducing disease transmission from mother to child
  • – prevention of malnutrition
  • – improving delivery of care infrastructure for maternal and child health
  • – innovative approaches to delivery of vaccines
  • – responses to epidemics

Submissions may be in English, French, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, or Hindi. Works in other languages must include an English translation.

The deadline for submissions is July 31, 2017.
