World leaders are currently gathered in Pozna?, Poland, for the United Nations Climate Change Conference. The international peasants’ movement, La Via Campesina, plans to be in Pozna? on the last two days of the conference, to ensure that the voice of small-scale farmers is heard. La Via Campesina believes that world leaders must turn away from the concepts of biofuels and carbon trading, and look towards the alternatives of food sovereignty, the re-localization of food production, and the development of local and renewable energy.-La Via Campesina’s press release is available at: http://www.viacampesina.org/main_en/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=651&Itemid=1.
