ESAR-RCCE is offering a webinar on April 6, 2022 at 4p.m. EAT on the risks of misinformation and disinformation for public health response to COVID-19 and other diseases.
The speakers at the event will be Ann Ngengere, Social Content Editor, Viral Facts Africa, and Antoinette Eleonore Ba, ESAR Regional Immunization Director, UNICEF.
Ann Ngengere is a Kenyan journalist and is currently the social content editor at Viral Facts Africa. The Viral Facts project is a pioneering collaboration between Africa’s fact-checkers and public health institutions to tackle health misinformation and provide audiences with engaging fact-based health information. Ann’s views on misinformation have been highlighted on Kenyan media including NTV, Spice FM, TV47, and at events organized by the WHO, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, African Women in Media, the International Women’s Media Foundation, and Mozilla Foundation. Ann previously worked for Kenyan media Citizen Television before joining PesaCheck, one of Africa’s largest fact-checking initiatives.
Antoinette Eleonore Ba is a Paediatrician and a Master in Tropical Biomedical Sciences. She has over 20 years of experience with international organizations and ministries of health in formulation and implementation of evidence-based policies with a focus on malaria, immunization, child and maternal health issues.
