The International Women’s Media Foundation is inviting applications for its Courage in Journalism Award. This award celebrates women journalists who have demonstrated bravery while reporting from areas of instability, oppression, and conflict.

Candidates can be full-time or freelance women reporters, writers, editors, photographers, or producers from any country.

Journalists should be nominated by a peer. The application should describe the conditions faced by the journalist, and include a statement of why the candidate deserves the award. For print journalists, the application should include two or three writing samples. For broadcasters or producers, the application should include an audio or video clip produced by the candidate. Samples can be uploaded electronically or submitted on cassette or CD.

Applications should be in English, French, Russian, or Spanish, although submissions in any language will be considered.

The deadline to apply is March 15.
