Cash prizes for excellence in fact-checking

Working journalists who cover government transparency and accountability can apply for the Africa Fact-Checking Awards.

Africa Check is currently accepting radio, print, and online pieces that expose misleading claims made by public figures and institutions.

Entries must be original, include fact-checking, and be published or broadcast in Africa between Sep. 1, 2017 and Aug. 15, 2018. Submissions can be in French or English.

Winners of the best fact-checking report will receive a prize of US$2,000. Two runners-up will receive US$1,000 each.

The deadline to apply is Aug. 15, 2018.
