Call for articles: Community radio and its impact on family farming

As the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC) gears up for its 11th World Conference, AMARC wishes to analyze the impact of community radio on fighting hunger in rural areas, and its impact on agriculture, specifically family agriculture.

AMARC’s International Secretariat is asking community broadcasters to submit articles which answer the following questions for their country/region:

(1) What is the role and importance of family farming in your country and its contribution to ending hunger?

(2) What are the communication needs of actors (farmers’ organizations, institutions, families, etc.)?

(3) How are community radio, ICTs and other community media currently supporting and how can they better support family farming? Describe your experiences.

(4) How can community radio best contribute to supporting family farming with regard to food security, access to markets, climate change, emergencies, etc.?

(5) What are your recommendations to AMARC for the Global Conference and for the International Year of Family Farming?

Submitted articles should be no longer than 1000 words. Community broadcasters should send their articles to secretariat@si.amarc.org [1] by August 10, 2013.

Articles will be published on the AMARC website. Broadcasters who submit articles will be considered for sponsored participation in the AMARC 11 Global conference, which will be held in Accra, Ghana from December 1-5, 2014.
