Call for applications: The 2014-2015 Knight Science Journalism Fellowships

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is accepting applications for the 2014-15 Knight Science Journalism Fellowship from self-motivated journalists who hope to improve their coverage of science, technology, medicine or the environment.

Each year, 10-12 journalists from around the world receive a fellowship. Knight Fellows devise their own study plans, attend courses at MIT and Harvard University, attend lectures and seminars, and interview faculty members.

The fellowship lasts nine months. Fellows receive a living stipend, tuition fees, health insurance and other expenses, and have access to all resources at MIT and Harvard.

Full-time journalists (including freelancers) with at least three full years of experience covering science, technology, medicine, or the environment, or those with at least five years of other journalism experience and a desire to cover these areas in the future, are encouraged to apply. There are no educational prerequisites, nor is there an age limit, but proficiency in English is required.

To apply, qualified candidates must submit an email with their application form, a professional autobiography, CV or resume, fellowship year proposal, samples of professional work, and three letters of recommendation to knight-info@mit.edu [1] with “9-Month Fellowship” in the subject field.

The deadline for applications is March 1, 2014.
