The Union World Conference on Lung Health is an annual conference on lung health issues as they affect low- and middle-income countries. The theme of this year’s conference is “Shared Air, Safe Air?” More than 3,000 delegates from over 120 countries are expected to attend. The National Press Foundation’s Journalist to Journalist (J2J) Project is working with the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease to offer all-expenses-paid fellowships for up to 20 health journalists to cover the conference in Paris, France.
The three-day J2J program is designed for working journalists who want to increase their knowledge and skills in developing stories on lung health and related issues, including tuberculosis, TB/HIV, asthma, diabetes, tobacco control, and the impact of air pollution.
Fellowship winners will attend three days of expert training from Tuesday to Thursday, October 29-31, then cover the conference until Sunday, November 3, 2013.
Journalists working in any medium are invited to apply. Special attention will be given to applications from journalists in low- and middle-income countries, and South Africa.
All applicants must have at least three years experience as a journalist covering lung health or general health. All J2J sessions will be in English, so proficient spoken and written English is essential.
The deadline for applications is 5:00 p.m. EST, July 22, 2013. Only online applications are accepted.
