Call for applications: Human rights fellowship for women journalists

TheĀ International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) [1] is accepting applications for the Elizabeth Neuffer Fellowship. The Fellowship is named after the 1998 IWMF Courage in Journalism Award winner and Boston Globe correspondent killed in Iraq in May 2003.

Women journalists who work in print, broadcast and online media, and who focus on human rights and social justice can apply for this year-long fellowship.

The selected journalist will spend an academic year in a tailored program, with access to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Center for International Studies and media outlets such as the Boston Globe and the New York Times.

Applicants must have a minimum of three years experience in journalism. Non-native English speakers must have excellent written and verbal English skills in order to fully participate and benefit from the program. Freelance journalists may apply.

A stipend will be provided, and expenses covered, including airfare, housing and health insurance.

The application deadline is April 11, 2014.
