The Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ) is awarding grants of up to US$5,000 from its Fund for Environmental Journalism. The grants are designed to provide incentive and support to journalists who are struggling financially to create an environmental reporting project.

The funds cover project-related travel, training, research materials, environmental testing, and other expenses directly involved in completing an environmental reporting project anywhere in the world. For the first time, freelance independent journalists can also include a stipend in their proposed budget.

Both SEJ members and non-members can apply for the grants, as long as their work is within the field of journalism. Non-members must pay a US$40 application fee. All application materials must be in English.

The deadline for applications is November 15, 2015.
