African journalists invited to make submissions for Norbert Zongo Investigative Journalism Prize

The Norbert Zongo National Press Centre, based in Burkina Faso, is accepting applications for the Norbert Zongo Investigative Journalism Prize. The Prize honours excellence in investigation and research on subjects related to political, economic, social and cultural life in Africa.

Norbert Zongo was a famous Burkinabé journalist and editor of the weekly newspaper L’Indépendent (The Independent). He was murdered on December 13, 1998.

The Press Centre encourages investigative journalists who work with newspapers, radio and television stations to submit their work. The work must have been published or broadcast between May 3, 2013 and May 3, 2015.

The winners in each category (print, radio and television) will receive 1,000,000 CFA francs (about $1,600 US).

Submissions will be accepted in French or English. If you submit a story in other languages, you must include a translation.

The deadline to apply is August 30.
